Updates of Joint Research on IPv6 Network Management: Research, Development and Demonstration

Joint Research on IPv6 Network Management: Research, Development and Demonstration (abbreviated as Joint IPv6 Project) started from June 2020 and will last until May 2023. It is an international project collaborated by 23 research institutions from 12 Asian and 2 European countries, aims to develop the key technologies required for the support, collaborative management and governance for IPv6 networks, and to foster a collaborative environment in which data can be acquired, analyzed, and shared. In addition, partners could investigate new rules to support credit-based cooperative governance on IPv6 cyberspace. Related prototypes and systems will be developed with demonstration to be deployed among partners.

Since June 2020, four project meetings have been successfully held, including two open sessions during APAN50 and APAN51.

In March 2021, in order to promote the project collaboration, the project office held the bilateral meetings with the partners respectively, and formed six working groups mainly focus on passive measurement, IPv4/IPv6 network telescope, BGP routing sharing, active probe, looking glass and international rules of cyber governance (IRCG).

The joint IPv6 project is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in China and led by Tsinghua University (China). The project partners include 11 universities and institutes from China, Hong Kong, Germany, Malaysia, Myanmar, the UK and Thailand, 9 National Research & Education Network (NREN) organizations of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, 2 companies of China.
