The Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN Ltd) is the international partnership of the
National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) across the region. It spans over half
of the world’s population, and its members are fundamental in the provision of
high-speed network connectivity domestically and internationally. These days, this
connectivity is crucial in the support of collaborative education and in tackling grand
research problems. APAN’s activities are centred around a wide range of Working Groups,
covering a number of technology areas as well as applications areas, such as
agriculture, telemedicine, e-culture, disaster mitigation, open and sharing data, IoT,
and security. With two large conferences held each year in various locations across the
Asia-Pacific, APAN provides the key forum for planning, deployment, operations,
training, and effective use of the world’s most advanced, fastest and largest networks,
and enabling access to the world’s major research facilities and instruments.
